In a widespread practice, doctors in Kenya are prescribing up to eight types of medicines compared to only about two in Uganda or Tanzania for a similar ailment.
In the process they are minting super profits, bankrupting families, poisoning patients and discouraging the sick from visiting hospitals.
Also while colluding with pharmaceutical companies more than 75 per cent of health facilities are prescribing the much more expensive branded drugs instead of recommended generics.
